TRANSPORT★☆☆💡 Pro Tips🧘 Etiquette📱 Useful Apps
💳The magic key: T-Money card
Start your Korea trip by buying a 'T-Money' card at any convenience store. With this little card, you can ride subways, buses, taxis, and even buy snacks. There are many cute designs, so it makes a great souvenir too. It's fun to tap your card like a local wherever you go. Most importantly! You can only top up the card with **cash** at stations or convenience stores. Please remember this!
🔄The secret of transfer discounts
The magic of Korean transport is 'Transfers.' If you switch to another bus or subway within 30 minutes, it's basically free! But there is one golden rule here. You MUST tap your card when getting **OFF** the bus too. Listen for the beep before you exit to get the discount. If you just walk away, you miss the benefit, so please tap!
🧘Seats that remain empty
It is a culture to always keep the priority seats at the ends, and the pink seats for pregnant women in the middle, empty. Even if there are many seats or your legs hurt, please save these spots. It is much better manners to leave them empty than to stand up later. Especially sitting in the pink seat can get awkward if a pregnant woman appears. It is much more relaxing not to sit there at all.
📱Use this instead of Google Maps
Google Maps does not work very well in Korea. To find your way or restaurants, download 'Naver Map' or 'KakaoMap.' These apps are incredibly smart friends. They even tell you which train car is closest to the transfer stairs. They support English settings, so don't worry! With these apps, you can go anywhere in Seoul.
